Rodelta’s ACVP solution to build a fish-friendly pump inside a concrete pump casing has won the tender thanks to its combination of a highly efficient and fish friendly design built in a very reliable pump configuration. The ACVP is a so-called concrete volute pump that consist out of a steel rotor pull out unit that is placed in a concrete pump casing of which the latter is built in close conjunction with Dubbink, the main contractor of this project. The concrete construction makes the ACVP very durable and a low-maintenance design.

The impeller hydraulics have been specially designed and optimized with state-of-the-art 3D CFD software which have resulted that excellent fish pass ability of the pumping station has been assured. In this process, The Rodelta engineers were able to make use of their extensive experience in the field of fish passage pump designs. Because they were closely involved in the developing of the Dutch standard with regard to fish passability. (NEN8775) Actions are now underway to establish this standard at European level, to which they also contribute.
