How Does the Energy Savings Calculator Work?

Start by entering the electricity price, economic lifetime, CO₂ emission factor, and other general calculation parameters.

You can then enter up to eight operating points for a single pump. For each operating point, provide the following information:

• Flow rate and pump head
• Current and improved pump efficiency
• Motor efficiency
• Annual operating hours

The calculator automatically determines the potential annual energy savings, financial savings, and CO₂ emission reductions. It also provides an overview of the total savings over the selected economic lifetime.

Pump Energy Savings: Look Beyond the Initial Purchase Price

A higher-efficiency pump may have a higher initial purchase price, but the additional investment can be recovered through lower energy costs. By comparing the calculated savings with the difference in purchase price, you can quickly assess whether an investment could be economically attractive.

The calculations assume constant electricity prices throughout the economic lifetime. In practice, electricity prices may increase over time, potentially resulting in even greater financial savings.

Important: Purchase costs, maintenance costs, financing costs, and other lifecycle costs are not included in the calculator. These must be evaluated separately as part of a comprehensive investment analysis.

CO₂ Reduction and Sustainability
